Germany dedicates this 20 Euro Silver coin to the commemoration of the 200th birthday of hydrotherapist and naturopath Sebastian Kneipp. The motive features a portrait of Sebastian Kneipp surrounded by the inscriptions "SEBASTIAN KNEIPP", "200TH BIRTHDAY" and "1821-1897". The five elements of his naturopathic health concept are also included in the design. Sebastian Kneipp (17.05.1821 - 17.06.1897) was a Bavarian Roman Catholic priest as well as the namesake of Kneipp Medicine. Due to his own suffering of tuberculosis, he studied various healing methods and later created a holistic concept of life. Through him, the water cure treatment, which had already been applied earlier, also gained popularity. It is a therapeutic treatment for acute or chronic complaints through the methodical use of water.
