Germany dedicates this 20 Euro Silver coin to the commemoration of the 225th birthday of writer and composer Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. The motive features a portrait of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff surrounded by the inscription "225. GEBURTSTAG ANNETTE VON DROSTE-HÜLSHOFF". Also included in the design is a bird in flight in front of an alpine silhouette to reflect the authors' great love of nature. Born in 1797 in Hülshoff Castle near Münster, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff (1797-1848) was one of the most important German-language poets of the 19th century. Due to her social position as an unmarried woman of Catholic faith, she led a very monotonous life, spending much of her time with her sister's family. Her most famous works include the novella "Die Jugendbuche" and the ballad "Der Knabe im Moor" from 1842.
