The new issue of the Perth Mint's Australian Lunar Series III is dedicated to the Year of the Horse. The horse is the seventh animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The seventh issue of the 12-year Lunar III series in color presents a detailed depiction of a majestic mare together with her young foal. Both are shown in dynamic galloping pose with elegantly flowing manes. In the background, imposing mountain ranges rise up in harmonious contrast to the lush tranquility of expansive grasslands. The artistic design also incorporates the Chinese character for "Horse", the inscription "HORSE 2026", as well as The Perth Mint’s traditional "P" mintmark. A special feature of this issue is a privy mark made of 1 gram of pure gold, which depicts the Chinese character for "horse". The reverse of the coin features the portrait of King Charles III designed by Dan Thorne. The coin's weight, fineness and denomination are also shown on this side.
The horse is associated with attributes such as independence, sociability, and ambition. People born in the Year of the Horse (e.g. 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014) are enthusiastic, optimistic, and communicative. However, they can also be impatient, impulsive, and sometimes stubborn, especially when they feel restricted. The Horse represents strong intuition, which helps these people make quick decisions. The limited 1 kilo silver coin with gold Privy Mark is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
