This Sydney Money Expo Special Edition is part of the Australian Lunar Series III of the Perth Mint and is dedicated to the Year of the Snake. The snake is the sixth animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The sixth issue of the 12-year Lunar III series features a detailed depiction of a coiled snake resting on the ground beneath drooping leaves. The design includes the Chinese character for “snake”, the inscription “SNAKE 2025” and the Perth Mint mintmark “P”. This coin is the first of its kind to feature the effigy of King Charles III, designed by Dan Thorne, on the reverse. The reverse also shows the weight, fineness and denomination.
Snakes have excellent control over their body movements and behavior. This self-control is a remarkable character trait that sets them apart from many other animals. Overall, snakes are complex and contradictory animals whose character traits can be interpreted differently depending on context and perspective. Their fascinating nature makes them an enduring object of fascination and respect in many cultures around the world. Those born under the sign of the Chinese lunar snake are considered ambitious, successful, intelligent, independent and charismatic. The Year of the Snake bullion coin in color struck from a 1/4 ounce of 99.99% pure silver is delivered in a blistercard.
