The Wiener Neustadt was planned and built as a settlement and fort against potential attacks from the Hungarian kingdom. Richard the Lionheart was ransomed in 1192. The ransom brought the duchies of Austria and Styria plenty of silver to build the new city (Nova Civitas). This silver coin is one of three special editions for the 825th anniversary of Vienna's first mint. An illustration of the Wiener Neustadt is depicted on this silver coin. The value side of the anniversary coin is adorned with the rider's seal of Leopold V. It shows the regent on horseback, with heraldic shield and flag. 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' is above the seal. The nominal '1,50 EURO', the fineness '1 OZ FINE SILVER' and the year '2019' are shown below. The Wiener Neustadt anniversary coin from one ounce of silver comes in a blistercard from the Austrian Mint.
