The seventh issue of the annual World's Wildlife Series is dedicated to the Lion (Panthera Leo). The design of the gilded coin struck from 99.99% pure silver depicts a fully-grown lion resting on a rock under a tree. The inscriptions "THE LION" and "WORLD'S WILDLIFE" outline the design. The reverse features the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of Congo as well as the weight, fineness, denomination and year of issue.

The lion is one of the largest and most important land predators in the world and symbolizes the African animal kingdom. The impressive lion roar can be heard up to 8 kilometers away and is used for communication within the pride members. In the wild, the lion can live to be over 20 years old - but the threat from poachers is still very high today. The limited gilded silver coin is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
