The 2025 Kiwi coin was struck by the New Zealand Post from 1 ounce of 99.9% silver in uncirculated quality and features a Specimen finish. The coin, designed by Sacha Lees in collaboration with Te Rūnanga O Makaawhio, is characterized by detailed engravings. It features a kiwi couple guarding their egg. The design also includes the inscription “ROWI I OKARITO BROWN KIWI Apteryx rowi” and the denomination. The reverse features the portrait of King Charles III with the inscriptions "NEW ZEALAND", ".999 Ag 1oz", "CHARLES III" and "2025".

A remarkable characteristic of kiwi birds is that the male and female parent take turns caring for the chicks. The chicks often remain in their family group for years. These birds are slow to reproduce and typically lay only one egg per year. The Specimen Finish Kiwi Silver Coin is limited to 5,000 pieces worldwide and is delivered in an illustrated blistercard from the New Zealand Post.
