This limited silver bullion coin from the New Zealand Post is dedicated to an extinct New Zealand animal - the "Chatham Island Crested Penguin". The motive features two crested penguins and behind them the stormy sea. In the background is a Maori Koru bow in commemoration of New Zealand's native culture. The inscription "Chatham Island Crested Penguin" and the denomination "ONE DOLLAR" are also included in the design. The reverse depicts the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the year of issue, 2020. The Crested Penguins are the largest genus of penguins with seven species. The Chatam Island Crested Penguin, whose size is comparable to that of the King Penguins, was one of the largest representatives of its species. The first in history silver bullion coin from New Zealand is delivered in a protective capsule including a certificate of authenticity.
