The tenth and final issue of the series Icons of Inspiration is dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the most important personalities in the history of classical music. The motive was created by coin designer Joel Iskowitz and shows an image of the famous composer conducting with a baton. Part of the Hungarian State Opera House in Budapest can be seen in the background. Beethoven's signature and a piano keyboard, which is depicted along the edge of the coin, complete the design. The reverse shows the triumphant image of a muse stretching her arm towards the sun. Also included in the design are the official coat of arms of Niue as well as the denomination, year of issue, weight and fineness.
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Germany in 1770. His works include numerous symphonies and piano concertos as well as the opera “Fidelio”. Beethoven is particularly known for revolutionary compositions such as Symphony No. 3 (Eroica Symphony) and the iconic “Ode to Joy”. Timeless works such as the piano piece “Für Elise” are also part of the legacy of this outstanding composer, who was often ahead of his time. His innovative approach and his demand for expression and emotion marked the transition from the Classical to the Romantic period and inspired countless composers, even after Beethoven's death.
The limited premium bullion coin in honor of Ludwig van Beethoven is delivered in a protective capsule.
