The rare 5 Oz Silver Coin from the India Wildlife Series is dedicated to the Cobra. The motive features a detailed image of a cobra against a strikingly patterned background. The inscriptions "FIVE OUNCE", "CASH", and "999 SILVER" surround the design. The reverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue. The Indian cobra (Naja Naja) - a poisonous snake found on the Indian subcontinent - is considered a symbol of luck and wisdom. Furthermore, in Indian mythology it is an attribute of the Hindu god Shiva. On average, the snake reaches a length of 2 meters, making it one of the largest venomous snakes, which are common from the southern Himalayas to Sri Lanka. The most striking feature of the cobra is its neck shield, which is spread out in a threatening posture. The mintage is limited to only 250 pieces worldwide.
