Struck by the Perth Mint from an ounce of 99.99% pure silver, this coin commemorates one of the most enduringly popular American entertainers of the 20th century - John Wayne™. In his 50-year career, 'The Duke' produced more than 170 movies in which he himself played the lead role. The motive of the coin features John Wayne in profile wearing his cowboy hat and a representation of John Wayne on horseback on the left side of the coin. The inscription "THE DUKE" is also included in the design. The coin’s reverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. as well as the denomination '1 DOLLAR', the weight and the fineness '1 Oz 9999 Ag'.
