Struck by the Perth Mint from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver, the coin commemorates one of the most enduringly popular American entertainers of the 20th century: John Wayne™. In his 50-year career, 'The Duke' produced more than 170 movies in which he himself played the lead role. The motive depicts an image of John Wayne™ with his cowboy hat on a horse in color. Next to him is the iconic "JW" logo. The background features a representation of saguaros, a tree-like cactus plant. The image is framed by one of his most famous quotes, "TOMORROW HOPES WE HAVE LEARNED SOMETHING FROM YESTERDAY." The Perth Mint's mintmark "P" is also included in the design. The reverse shows the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination '1 DOLLAR', the year of issue 2022, and the weight and the fineness '1 Oz 9999 Ag'.
