The eighth and last issue of the Silver Eagle series "Inventions" is dedicated to Color TV. The motive in color shows a depiction of a television set from the 1960s, which can receive television in color. The background of the coin was designed to match the 1960s. The bottom edge of the coin features the year of issue "2023" while the inscription "LIBERTY" lines the top edge of the coin. The reverse features the American bald eagle with an oak branch in its talons. Framing the eagle design are the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "ONE DOLLAR - 1OZ. FINE SILVER".
Color television arrived in the Federal Republic of Germany on August 25, 1967 and was launched with the symbolic push of a button by Vice Chancellor Willy Brandt. The color TV experience was made possible by the PAL system developed by Telefunken in Hanover. The developer of this system was the researcher Walter Bruch, who was already driven by a deep fascination and enthusiasm for the still young television technology during his apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer. He later worked on color television in a research laboratory set up by Telefunken. The Inventions - Color TV Silver Eagle coin in color is delivered in a protective capsule including an illustrated product card.
* This coin has been colored by a private company.
