The first issue of the new Silver Eagle series "Inventions" is dedicated to the Printing Press. The colored motive features the inventor of the modern print, Johannes Gutenberg, at the printing press. On the bottom edge of the coin is the year of issue "2023" and the year of the invention of the printing press "1450". Above is the inscription "LIBERTY". The reverse depicts the American bald eagle, the denomination "ONE DOLLAR" and the weight and fineness "1 OZ. FINE SILVER".

The revolutionary process of letterpress printing was invented in the 15th century by Johannes Gutenberg, a former goldsmith and coin maker. Using movable letters, books could be produced faster, cheaper and in larger quantities. Gutenberg's most famous publication, the Gutenberg Bible from the 1450s, is considered a masterpiece of the art of printing.
