The 2024 issue of the Australian Kookaburra silver coin is again being released this year as a High Relief coin with a 24-carat gold plated motive. Depicted is a detailed depiction of a kookaburra flying over a gorge. It holds a captured snake in its claws. The outer ring of the coin has also been gilded, thus giving this coin a very unique look. The inscription "KOOKABURRA", the mintmark "P125" for the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint and the year of issue, weight and fineness of the coin complete the design. For the first time, the reverse shows the Dan Thorne portrait of King Charles III, as well as the denomination. The 2024 Kookaburra coin was struck by the Perth Mint from an ounce of 99.99% pure silver. The Kookaburra is the largest member of the kingfisher family and the national bird of Australia. It is also called "laughing Hans" in German. It owes this name to its loud call, which is comparable to human laughter, and which it prefers to sound in the early morning and late evening. The strictly limited gilded high relief Kookaburra silver proof coin is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
