This remarkable High Relief release by the Perth Mint was struck from an impressive 2 kilo of 99.99% pure silver. The motive features a detailed depiction of three koi fish swimming in a stream full of pebbles, on the surface of which are water lilies. The design also includes the inscriptions "KOI" and "2023 2 KILO 9999 SILVER". The reverse shows the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, supplemented with the years of her reign, and the monetary denomination. The coin has been provided with an antique finish and given an individual edge number.

Koi fish are considered symbols of harmony, happiness, prosperity and success in East Asia and have always been valued and revered for these attributes. The colorful carp fish are often depicted within the yin-yang symbol from Feng Shui, which represents the opposing, balancing forces that govern the universe.
