This silver coin was struck in brilliant High Relief from ten ounces of 99.99% pure silver and is dedicated to Australia's largest bird of prey, the Wedge-tailed Eagle. The motive of the coin depicts a magnificent Wedge-tailed Eagle that pounces on its prey during the hunt. The depiction of the eagle extends to the rim of the coin. With a wingspan of up to 2.7 meters, the wedge-tailed eagle is one of the largest eagles in the world. One of the bird's outstanding physical characteristics is the wedge-shaped tail. The design for the motive of this Wedge-tailed Eagle coin of the Australian Perth Mint was created by the famous sculptor and engraver John M. Mercanti. The reverse depicts the Jody Clark portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as well as the monetary denomination.
