The Perth Mint already took the Wedge-tailed Eagle to new heights in 2018 and 2019 and has currently struck the Wedge-tailed Eagle for the thrid time with a thickness of 6.42 mm in Piedfort proof quality. Piedfort means the double thickness of a regular coin of the same weight and metal. The 2020 edition of the Wedge-Tailed Eagle features the fifth design of the famous engraver John M. Mercanti. The motive of the Piedfort silver coin depicts a magnificent Wedge-Tailed eagle swooping on its prey in the midst of a hunt. In addition the inscription "Wedge-Tailed Eagle", the year of issue, the fineness and the traditional Mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint are included in the design. The reverse shows the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination. The strictly limited Wedge-tailed Eagle Piedfort Silver Coin is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
