The Perth Mint has currently struck the Wedge-Tailed Eagle for the fourth time with a thickness of 6.42 mm in Piedfort quality. Piedfort means the double thickness of a regular coin of the same weight and metal. As a special feature, the 2021 edition of the Wedge-Tailed Eagle was issued for the first time in Ultra High Relief. The motive features the sixth Wedge-Tailed Eagle design of the famous engraver John M. Mercanti. The Piedfort silver coin depicts a swooping Wedge-Tailed Eagle with a snake in its talons. In addition the inscriptions "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE", "2021 2oz 9999 SILVER" and the traditional Mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint are included in the design. The reverse shows the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination. The limited Ultra High Relief Wedge-Tailed Eagle Piedfort Coin in Reverse Proof is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
