Wedge-tailed Eagle 2017
1 Oz Silver - Proof
- Mintage 5,000 pieces
- In original Box with Certificate of Authenticity
This beautiful silver coin celebrates one of Australia’s most incredible birds of prey, the wedge-tailed eagle. These majestic creatures can often be seen perched in trees and on rocks and cliffs, from where they have a clear view of their surroundings, enabling them to defend their territory and identify prey. The 1 Dollar coin depicts an impressive Wedge-tailed Eagle perching on a tree branch. The design also includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE, the 2017 year-date and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. For this design, The Perth Mint commissioned American sculptor and engraver, John M. Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. The coin’s obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination. The coin was struck by the Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality. It is housed in a classic grey display case within an illustrated shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
