The 2022 edition of the Wedge-Tailed Eagle was struck by the Perth Mint from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver and is the seventh design by the famous US Mint engraver John M. Mercanti. The motive of the Ultra High Relief silver proof coin depicts the head of a Wedge-Tailed Eagle - Australia's largest bird of prey. The detailed design highlights the eagle's plumage, eyes and large, hooked beak. The motive is framed by the inscriptions "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE" and "2022 1oz 9999 SILVER". The traditional mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint is also included in the design. The reverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denominaton. The Wedge-Tailed eagle is one of the biggest eagles in the world and Australia's largest bird of prey. Its impressive wings measure a wingspan of up to 2.7 meters.
