The 2023 edition of the Wedge-Tailed Eagle was struck by the Perth Mint from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver and is the eighth design by the famous US Mint engraver John M. Mercanti. The motive of the High Relief silver incused coin depicts a wedge-tailed eagle - Australia's largest bird of prey - perched on a branch with wings outstretched. The motive is framed by the inscriptions "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE" and "2023 1oz 9999 SILVER". The traditional mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint is also included in the design. The reverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the dates of her reign and the denomination. The Wedge-Tailed eagle is one of the biggest eagles in the world. Its wings measure a wingspan of up to 2.7 meters. The impressive animal is mostly native to Australia, Tasmania and southern Papua New Guinea and feeds mainly on reptiles and small mammals. The High Relief Wedge-Tailed Eagle 1 oz silver incused coin is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
