This impressive silver coin was minted by the Perth Mint in brilliant high relief of 10 ounces of silver. The 99.99% pure silver coin is dedicated to the Australian wedge-tailed eagle. It is known that these majestic birds of prey fly for hours through the sky and often reach heights of up to 2,000 meters. In the heat of the day, they use hot thermal air currents that rise from the ground to reach those dizzying heights while consuming little energy. The wedge-tailed Eagle motive 2018 shows a wedge-tailed eagle with its offspring in a nest. In the background, another wedge-tailed eagle is seen, which spreads with outstretched wings on the nest. It is the third Wedge-Tailed Eagle design for the Perth Mint by the famous sculptor John M. Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint. The design also includes the inscription 'AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE', the year '2018', the weight and fineness of the coin as well as the mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint. On the value side is the Ian Rank Broadley portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the currency denomination. The silver coin in proof quality is delivered including numbered certificate in the original box.
