This impressive silver coin was struck in brilliant High Relief of five ounces of 99,99% pure silver and is dedicated to Australia's largest bird of prey, the Wedge-tailed Eagle. The motive of the coin depicts a magnificent wedge-tailed eagle with fully extended wings and stylized sunrays in the background. These majestic birds of prey are able to fly for hours through the sky and they often reach heights of up to 2,000 meters. While the heat of the day, they use hot thermal air currents that rise up from the ground to reach those dizzying heights. This Wedge-Tailed Eagle design for the Australian Perth Mint was designed by the famous sculptor and engraver John M. Mercanti. The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination. The coin is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate.
