The Royal Australian Mint dedicates this silver coin in proof quality to the end of the Second World War. One million Australians served in the war; almost 40,000 lost their lives. With the capitulation of the Japanese Empire to the Allies on September 2, 1945, the Pacific War came to an end. The end of the war marked a new beginning full of hope for peace. The motive of the coin shows a woman stretching her hands to the sky and letting doves and origami cranes fly free. This picture expresses the triumph of peace over war. At the same time it refers to the "Children's Peace Monument" in Hiroshima. The reverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The commemorative coin struck from 99,9% silver is delivered in the original coin case including a certificate of authenticity.
