In 2018, The Perth Mint’s internationally renowned Australian Lunar Silver Proof Coin Series II celebrates the Year of the Dog, the eleventh animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. This three-coin set was struck from the Perth Mint in 99,99% pure silver. Each silver coin in proof quality depicts a German Shepherd dog and pup lying in grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background. The Chinese character for „dog“ and the inscription „Year of the Dog“ also appear in the design. The three-coin set is housed in a stylish red and black presentation case and themed shipper, accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
