The new issue of the Australian Lunar Series III from the Perth Mint is dedicated to the Year of the Dragon in 2024 - the fifth animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The fifth issue of the 12-year Lunar III series was struck from five ounces of 99.99% pure silver. The motive of the High Relief silver coin features a detailed depiction of the mythical creature. Stylized waves and a flaming pearl surround the dragon. The design also includes the Chinese character for "Dragon", the inscription "DRAGON 2024" and the mintmark "P125" signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, supplemented with the dates of her reign, the denomination and fineness.
