The new edition of the Australian Lunar Series III of the Perth Mint is dedicated to the Year of the Ox. Following the mouse, the Ox is the second animal in the Chinese Zodiac calendar. The second release in the 12-year Lunar III Series was struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver and features an image of an ox and its calf standing on a riverbank. Both oxen were partially gold-plated on the motive. Also included in the design are the Chinese character for "Ox", the inscription "OX 2021" and the traditional mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the denomination, the weight and the fineness. Oxen possess an enormous work force and are the oldest documented draft animals. Those born under the sign of the Chinese ox are considered friendly, intelligent, honest and reliable. They are characterized by a high work ethic, logical thinking and composure, which makes them good leaders. The gilded silver coin is delivered in the original box of the Perth Mint including a certificate of authenticity.
