The new issue of the Australian Lunar Series III from the Perth Mint is dedicated to the Year of the Tiger in 2022 - the third animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The third issue of the 12-year Lunar III series was struck from five ounces of 99.99% pure silver. The motive of the High Relief silver coin features a tiger cub following its proud parent through a rocky and bamboo-covered terrain. Also included in the design are the Chinese character for "Tiger," the inscription "TIGER 2022" and the Perth Mint's traditional mintmark "P". While in the African and European region the lion is considered the "king of the jungle", this status is attributed to the tiger in the Asian region - not least because of its beauty and extraordinary strength. Those born under the sign of the Tiger in 2022, 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1962 and every 12th year before that are considered sensitive, emotional and thoughtful.
