The sixth issue of the Australian Lunar Opal Series is dedicated in 2021 to the Year of the Ox. Following the mouse, the ox is the second of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac calendar. Struck by the Perth Mint from 1 Oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality, it incorporates an inner panel design of an ox detailed in pure Australian opal. The outer panel includes intricate patterning with depictions of stylised tulips. The inscription "YEAR OF THE OX" and the Perth Mint's traditional "P" mint mark are also included in the design. The reverse features the Jody Clark effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination. Oxen possess an enormous work force and are the oldest documented draft animals. Those born under the sign of the Chinese ox are considered friendly, intelligent, honest and reliable. They are characterized by a high work ethic, logical thinking and composure.
