The eighth issue of the Australian Lunar Opal Series is dedicated in 2023 to the Year of the Rabbit. Following the tiger, the ox and the rat, the rabbit is the fourth of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac calendar. Struck by the Perth Mint from 1 Oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality, it incorporates an inner panel design of a rabbit detailed in pure Australian opal. The outer panel includes intricate patterning with depictions of stylised snapdragons. The inscription "YEAR OF THE RABBIT" and the Perth Mint's traditional "P" mint mark are also included in the design. The reverse features the Jody Clark effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination.
