The fifth issue of the unique Australian Lunar Opal Series is dedicated to the Year of the Mouse 2020. The mouse is the first of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac calendar. Struck by the Perth Mint from 1 Oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality, it incorporates an inner panel design of a mouse detailed in pure Australian opal. The outer panel of the coin includes intricate patterning with depictions of stylised flowers and grapes. The inscription "YEAR OF THE MOUSE" and the traditional Mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint are also included in the design. The reverse features the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination. The limited Year of the Mouse silver proof coin with genuine Australian opal is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
