This uniquely domed coin is the eighth release in the new Lunar Series by the Royal Australian Mint and was struck from one ounce of 99.9% pure silver. The coin celebrates the Year of the Goat 2027 and is limited to only 7,500 pieces worldwide. The design depicts a Goat against a backdrop of persimmons, which symbolise prosperity and good fortune in Chinese culture, as well as the inscriptions "YEAR OF THE GOAT", the Chinese character for "Goat", the weight and fineness. The reverse features the lunar calendar wheel with all 12 animals surrounding the Dan Thorne effigy of King Charles III, as well as the denomination and year of issue.
Following the Horse in 2026, the Goat is the eighth animal in the Chinese zodiac. Those born under the sign of the Goat are associated with qualities such as creativity, compassion and gentleness. People born in the Year of the Goat are considered empathetic, kind, imaginative and harmony-loving. They often have a strong appreciation for beauty and approach those around them with calmness and consideration.
The Lunar Series by the Royal Australian Mint is dedicated to the twelve zodiac signs of the traditional Chinese lunar calendar. Each year, a different animal takes centre stage, together with its traditional characteristics and unique symbolism. Following the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake and Horse, the Goat takes its place as the eighth animal of the Chinese zodiac in 2027. The annually changing designs and characteristic domed shape make these releases an exceptional interpretation of the time-honoured Lunar theme.
The limited Year of the Goat 2027 domed silver Lunar coin is presented in the original Royal Australian Mint case and comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
