This unique dome shaped coin is the fifth issue in the new Lunar Series by the Royal Australian Mint and was struck from one ounce of 99,9% silver. The silver coin is dedicated to the Year of the Dragon in 2024 and is limited to only 7,500 pieces worldwide. The motive features a dragon surrounded by auspicious clouds, the symbol of luck and good fortune. In addition, the inscription "YEAR OF THE DRAGON", the Chinese character for "dragon" and the weight and fineness are engraved. The reverse features the lunar calendar wheel, with all 12 animals on the wheel, the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, supplemented with the dates of her reign, as well as the denomination and the year of issue.

The Dragon is the fifth of twelve signs in the Chinese Zodiac calendar, following the Year of the Rabbit in 2023. The Dragon is attributed with qualities such as reliability, self-confidence, courage and a strong willpower. Those born under the sign of the Dragon are considered energetic, enthusiastic, and intelligent. Dragons are charismatic, attract others with their magnetic personality, and are often considered natural leaders.
