This impressive coin from the new Lunar Series was struck by the Royal Australian Mint from one kilogram of silver and is dedicated to the Year of the Rat. The rat is the first of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The small rodents are very curious and explore their environment daily. With their great imagination and strong intuition, rats rely on their clever mind to remember places, paths, obstacles, feeding places and other things. Those born under the sign of the Chinese Moon Rat in 2020, 2008, 1996, 1984, 1972 and every 12th year before are considered smart, resourceful, adaptable and friendly. The motive of the coin shows a rat framed by Lychee and the Chinese character for "rat". Also shown are weight and fineness as well as the inscription "YEAR OF THE RAT". The reverse depicts the Jody Clark portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and the year of issue. The strictly limited 1 kilo silver proof coin is delivered in the original wooden box of the Royal Australian Mint including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
