The 2024 Great Southern Land coin was struck by the Perth Mint from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver. The coin's design features an insert of Australian chrysoprase, a gemstone whose green coloration is caused by nickel. This stone, which is found in Queensland and Western Australia, is also known as “Australian jade”. Chrysoprase is particularly highlighted by its impressive appearance once it has been polished. The year of issue “2024”, the fineness and the mintmark “P125” for the Perth Mint's anniversary are also included in the design. The reverse shows the portrait of King Charles III as well as the inscriptions “AUSTRALIA” and “1 DOLLAR”.
