The Royal Australian Mint celebrates the discovery of prehistoric footprints at the Willandra Lakes in Australia with the issue of this 1/2 ounce silver coin. The design shows the well-preserved imprint of a human foot in what is now a dried-up area, along with the inscriptions "MILLENNIA - ONE DOLLAR" and "WILLANDRA LAKES TRACKWAY." The imprint probably originated 20,000 years ago during the last ice age and was only discovered in 2003. The Mungo Footprints are the oldest footprints ever found in Australia and the largest set of Ice Age footprints in the world. The nature of the prints allows conclusions to be drawn about rather tall individuals who also moved relatively quickly. The reverse of the coin features the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscription "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA 2021". The limited Mungo National Park silver proof coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity from the Royal Australian Mint.
