The 2026 Sovereign silver coin was struck by The Perth Mint from a 1/4 ounce of 99.99% pure silver and marks a premiere as the Perth Mint’s first Australian Sovereign in silver. The commemorative coin pays tribute to the Sovereign as the first coin struck in The Perth Mint’s permanent gold exhibition. The design features a depiction of Saint George, a Roman guard and Christian martyr who, according to legend, is said to have saved a princess from a dragon and has since stood as a symbolic embodiment of courage and the triumph of good over evil. Also included in the design are a Privy Mark for the 100th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, the inscription "AUSTRALIA", the year of issue "2026" and The Perth Mint’s "P" mintmark. The reverse shows the Dan Thorne portrait of King Charles III as well as the denomination. Limited to 10,000 pieces worldwide, the Sovereign silver coin in proof quality is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
