The Silver coin from Canada celebrates the 100th Anniversary of a legend of Canadian seafaring - the Bluenose. The motive depicts the Bluenose, which was also called "Queen of the North Atlantic", and was designed by William J. Roué. In addition to the sailing ship, the sketch of the Bluenose by the naval architect is shown. The ship and the sketch are arranged in such a way that they flow smoothly into each other. Roué's signature is featured below. Furthermore, the inscription "CANADA - DOLLAR" and the years "1921 - 2021" are included in the design. The reverse features the historic portrait of King George V. This effigy appeared on Canadian coins in 1921 when the Bluenose was launched. The Bluenose was an exceptionally fast and maneuverable schooner that was a symbol of the province of Nova Scotia in the 1930s and also symbolically represented all of Canada. In the "Fisherman's Cup" competition, which was held annually, the Bluenose remained undefeated for 17 consecutive years. It's name is probably due to the fact that the fishermen on board were exposed to great cold and were consequently dubbed "bluenoses". On January 28, 1946, the ship ran into a reef off Haiti and sank. The Bluenose silver proof coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity of the Royal Canadian Mint.
