This silver coin is dedicated to the famous inventor Alexander Graham Bell, honoring not only his many scientific achievements, but also at the same time celebrating his 175th birthday anniversary in 2022. The motive features the inventor's profile filled with keywords describing his life. The left edge of the coin depicts his early telephone, as well as the inventor's signature. Also included are the issuing state "CANADA" and the year of issue "2022". The reverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II" and "D.G. REGINA". Struck from 99.99% pure silver the commemorative coin is limited to only 50,000 pieces worldwide.
Born on the 3rd of March in 1847 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Alexander Graham Bell was not only an inventor, but also a eugenicist, audiologist and major entrepreneur. Through his ideas and the further development of the first telephone by Antonio Meucci, Alexander Graham Bell was one of the first people to make money with the telephone. In honor of his personality, the auxiliary unit of reference for marking decadic logarithms was named after him. The Bel unit can be used to measure electrical voltages, power and sound levels. In 1922, the inventor died at the age of 75 in Baddeck, Canada. The silver proof coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity from the Royal Canadian Mint.
