Since its founding in 1924, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) has become a historic national institution and plays a vital role in the defense and security of Canada. The RCAF is responsible for air defense, aerial reconnaissance, transport, search and rescue operations. The design of the commemorative coin features several stylized elements that look back on the RCAF's century-long history. The iconic Maple Leaf, several airplanes, a tulip and the years "1924" and "2024" are represented in the design. Also included are the issuing state "CANADA" and the denomination "DOLLAR". The reverse features the portrait of King Charles III and the inscriptions "CHARLES III" and "D.G. REX". Struck from 99.99% pure silver the commemorative coin is limited to 35,000 pieces worldwide.
