The Royal Canadian Mint's Ultra High Relief silver coin is dedicated to the Year of the Dragon, which is the fifth of a total of twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac calendar. Struck from 100.74 gram of 99.99% pure silver, the coin features a dragon in the foreground with stylized clouds and the sun in the background. Along the edge of the coin is the inscription "CANADA" and the denomination "50 DOLLARS". The background picks up on the element of "wood", which is associated with the zodiac sign of the dragon in 2024, and features an engraved wood grain. The reverse also shows the wood grain as well as a rear view of the dragon, stylized clouds, the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the year of issue. The special feature of this coin is the ultra high relief minting on both sides, which gives this issue a unique, three-dimensional look.
