This 50 Yuan commemorative coin of 150 grams silver in color is dedicated to the Traditional Chinese Opera (Huangmei Opera). Huangmei or Huangmei tone, originated as a form of rural folksong and dance that has been in existence for the last 200 years and possibly longer. The original Huangmei opera was sung by women when they were picking tea, and the opera was called the Picking Tea Song. In year 2006, Huangmei Opera was selected to be one of the Chinese National Intangible Cultural Heritages. The silver coin in proof quality comes in a box with certificate.
