This Ultra High Relief silver coin is dedicated to the tragic story of the Titanic. The motive features a colorful depiction of the cruise ship making its way through icebergs at full speed. The inscription "TITANIC" is also part of the design. The reverse shows different perspectives of the deck and cabin construction as well as the interior of the Titanic. Also depicted is the route across the Atlantic, including the spot where the tragedy occurred. The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, as well as the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II," "5 DOLLARS," "2022" and "COOK ISLANDS" are also included in the design. The Titanic, which at the time was the largest passenger ship in the world at 269 meters, collided with an iceberg on April 14, 1912 and sank within two hours. 1,500 people lost their lives, 700 passengers survived the disaster. Only a few artifacts made it back to the water's surface - including a lump of coal used to power the massive steam engines, which was recovered in 2000. A certified piece of the lump of coal - a relic of the historic event - has been incorporated into this coin as a special feature.
