10 Euro - 22,2 Gram Silver - Proof
- Mintage only 20,000 pieces
- With Certificate of Authenticity
- Delivery in original Box
The Monnaie de Paris has issued this 10 Euro silver coin in honor of the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), which has been working for the protection of nature and the environment for more than 50 years. The motive of this issue shows two Audouin’s Gulls flying over the sea. The inscription "LE GOÉLAND D'AUDOUIN" (engl.: Audouin’s Gull) and the year of issue are also included in the design. The reverse features another specimen standing on a rock. The gull is surrounded by the denomination, the WWF logo and the inscription "Espèce menacée" (Eng: Endangered Species).
The Audouin’s Gull (Ichthyaetus audouinii) is considered endangered due to overfishing and the massive development of coastal tourism in the Mediterranean regions. Although populations are recovering at an increasing rate, the Audouin’s Gull remains in need of protection, particularly due to its very limited local distribution. The limited commemorative coin in proof quality is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
