The Monnaie de Paris has dedicated this commemorative coin to the European Economic and Monetary Union. The motive, designed by Fabienne Courtiade, shows a total of seven semicircles with the names of the twelve member states of the monetary union. Within the semicircles, the French euro coins are depicted. The denomination is located in the center. The reverse shows a portrait of Marianne with stars in her hair. Flagpoles can be seen to her left. The inscription "EUROPA", the year of issue "2002" and twelve rounds with the euro symbol complete the design. The limited 1,5 Euro silver coin in proof quality is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
