20 Euro - 1 Oz Silver - Proof - High Relief
- Mintage only 3,000 pieces
- With Certificate of Authenticity

France dedicates the series The Art of the Pen to literary styles and authors who have significantly shaped the history of literature in France and abroad. The fourth issue of the series is dedicated to the famous English playwright, lyricist and actor William Shakespeare. The motive of the 20 Euro coin shows a depiction of William Shakespeare between life and death. While the left side of the face depicts Shakespeare's distinctive features and wears a jester's hat on his head, the right half of the face shows a skull with a crown. Behind the playwright is the interior of the Globe Theatre in London, where performances of Shakespeare's plays still take place today. The inscription "William Shakespeare" and the dates "1564" and "1616" as well as the year of issue "2022" are on the left edge of the coin. The reverse is identical to all coins in the series and features a quill pen, some famous literary quotes, the denomination and the title of the series - "L'art de la plume" - engraved in French. The limited commemorative coin in proof quality is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
