With this commemorative coin, the Monnaie de Paris celebrates not only the 100th birthday of Mother Teresa, but also the 100th anniversary of the existence of the Curie Institute. The motive of the silver coin in proof quality portrays Mother Teresa holding a child in her arms. Surrounding the design are the inscriptions "CHEZ NOUS, IL Y A TOUJOURS UN LIT PRÊT POUR UN ENFANT DE PLUS" and "MÈRE TERESA." On the reverse, Mother Teresa is depicted together with Pope John-Paul II. Engraved in an arc at the top edge of the coin is the inscription "CENTENAIRE DE LA NASISSANCE DE MERE TERESA". Below the design is the denomination "10 EURO" and the year of issue "2010".

Born in Albania, the Indian nun was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and was declared a saint by Pope John Paul II in 2003 for her selfless efforts on behalf of youth and the most oppressed.
