With the French Excellence series, the Monnaie de Paris celebrates the tradition of fine French craftsmanship. The 2014 issue is dedicated to the crystal manufactory Baccarat, which was founded in the 18th century and is located in the French city of the same name. The motive shows the denomination "10 EURO" - the digit "0" is represented in the form of the iconic red octagon of Baccarat, which dominates the design. Geometric crystal structures can be seen in the background. A head tilted above the crystal represents a glassblower and refers to the production of the crystal in virtuoso handwork. The year of issue "2014" is depicted centrally. The reverse presents the famous crystal table manufactured for Tsarina Marie Alexandrovna in the 19th century.

Baccarat stands for timeless and luxurious crystal art and gained fame in particular for the production of crystal for the Russian Tsar Nicholas II. The limited commemorative coin in proof quality is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
