The Monnaie de Paris dedicates the series "Masterpieces of Museums" to the great works of art that are exhibited or have been created in France. This rectangular commemorative coin is issued in honor of the Spanish artist Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) and his artwork "The Persistence of Memory". The world-famous painting was created in 1931 and is also called "The Melting Time" or "The Soft Clocks". It shows three melting clocks against a barren landscape, said to have been inspired by Dalí's hometown of Port Lligat. Dalí is the undisputed master of surrealism and continues to enchant viewers today with his extravagant and surreal paintings. The motive of the 10 Euro silver coin shows an image of the painting as well as the inscriptions "LA PERSISTANCE DE LA MEMORIE - S.DALI", "CHEFS D'ŒUVRE DES MUSÉES" and the year of issue 2021. The facade of the Centre Pompidou museum in Paris, where his work has been displayed for several times, is engraved on the left edge. The reverse of the coin features different views of French museums, as well as the inscription "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" and the monetary denomination "10 EURO". The limited commemorative silver coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
